The Moon River Cruise
Delegal Creek to Moon River and back. About ninety minutes on the water, and five thousand years of history along the way.
What you will see
Dolphins are regulars.
Bald eagles, sea turtles, leaping rays, tarpon and the occasional shark are often seen from the boat.
A Civil War secret
When the tide lets us in close, you will pass earthworks and batteries that once guarded the back door to Savannah. Most people who live here have never laid eyes on them.
Neighborhoods older than the pyramids!
The oldest neighborhood found on this coast was lived in about five thousand years ago, before Egypt raised its first pyramid and some fifteen hundred years before King Tut was laid in his tomb. For the next two thousand years people kept settling the high ground along these creeks, and from the water your captain will show you where they lived.
Moon River itself
The river Johnny Mercer knew as a boy, later renamed for his song. It is quieter than you would expect from something that famous.
Aboard
Shade, a table and a private head. Bring a picnic, or make it an early dinner on the water.
